double standards or Double the standard- make a choice

In the Nation of nearly 1.22 billion inhabitants, winning 4 Olympic Gold Medals is talk of the nation these days… states offering rewards and recognition to the winners winning Medals with their sheer hard work, coaching and ignorance.
Ignorance – Now think why I said that, how many Proud Indians heard the names of the winners, or more say about the participants of the bandwagon London Olympic? To be honest I didn’t know most of them.  So this is ignorance – people winning medals for Indian Continent were lost in the midst of the politicalisation (It’s no word in Dictionary) of Indian sports. Hypocrisy at its height, when they needed training facilities, mullah to improve their skills the states were quiescent in the state of ignorance and soon after the Indian flag created a History (by winning 4 medals in Olympic) the hullaballoo about the Bronze and silvers were created.
Amazing we are, no money for the sportsperson but One Crore Rupees reward for the winner, how many more such winners can we create like this. Missing basic facilities, no job guarantees, one time sports star working as the daily wage laborer – brilliant hypocrisy, isn’t it?
Wonder sometimes with tsunami of people in this country, why we don’t have a good swimmer to contribute in International or national level games? Is there only one Saina Nehwal or One Sania Mirza? What about racing, after PT Usha why cannot we produce more such athletes – I’m sure the answer is known to many of us but embarrassed should be the country for such double standards.
Praise the winners – for they have worked hard – But praise the sportsman spirit in many such Indians who are waiting to go to next Olympics but need that one hand to support. Is the country listening???
